Every Wall Can Help Someone Heal - Motiv8
Call out to Chamber Members that would be willing to support a meaningful community wellbeing project by donating time, skills, materials, or equipment to help refresh and transform six of our counselling rooms.
Motiv8 supports children, families and adults through a wide range of challenges surrounding alcohol, drugs, gambling and gaming misuse either for themselves or for the impact of a close family member. The environment in which this support takes place makes a real difference to how safe, comfortable and open people feel when they arrive for their support sessions.
They recently completed one room with a Banksy inspired theme that was supported by the Manx Lottery Trust and it has had a remarkable impact. It has quickly become a favourite space for both counsellors and clients, demonstrating just how powerful thoughtful surroundings can be in supporting emotional wellbeing.
Motiv8 would now like to extend this approach across six additional rooms.
The vision for the rooms
They are seeking help to refresh the rooms with calming, therapeutic colour palettes such as cream, white, pale green and pale blue, along with themed, nature-inspired designs:
- A Northern Lights room – soft blues and purples with gentle celestial or aurora inspired artwork
- A Rainforest room – calming greens with botanical imagery, natural textures and a sense of shelter and growth
- A Woodland room – sage tones with trees, forest imagery and a grounding, restorative atmosphere
- A Family room (ground floor) – a warm, welcoming space for younger children and families, currently in need of a more homely feel, including blinds and softer furnishings
- Room 1 which currently has 2 internal windows with blinds, this room would benefit from the windows being panelled over to give less distraction from outside of the windows.
- Conversion of an office into a new counselling room due to increased demand. A soft minimal room what is simple but not sterile for people that would benefit from less visual noise.
Motiv8 would welcome support in the form of:
- Painting and decorating expertise
- Wall murals, artwork or vinyl installations
- Donation of paint and decorating materials
- Blinds for the family room
- Soft furnishings, storage solutions or child-friendly décor
- Time and craftsmanship from local tradespeople or artists
Why this matters
Many of the people who use their service are experiencing difficult or vulnerable periods in their lives. A calm, welcoming and thoughtfully designed environment can help reduce anxiety, build trust and support emotional openness from the moment they walk through the door.
Creating these spaces is not about luxury or aesthetics alone. It is about dignity, comfort and supporting people to feel safe enough to begin healing.
How businesses can help
Motiv8 would be incredibly grateful for any contributions, whether large or small, including donated time, surplus materials, skills or creative input. We are also happy to work flexibly around schedules and can recognise supporter contributions where appropriate.
If any Chamber members would like to be involved, we would be delighted to discuss how they can help bring this project to life.
